Alexis Dove is a British Designer of unique and beautiful jewellery.
The collections, all hand made in Sussex, include motifs of wild roses, bellflowers and seashells decorated with semi-precious beads and pearls, in silver and vermeil. New this year are plump rabbit pendants and the vintage-inspired Key and Button collections.
Nature is a key theme for Alexis, whose first ambition was to be a farmer. After taking a degree in Agriculture and travelling around the world, Alexis discovered a love for creating jewellery and trained at Sir John Cass in fine jewellery and diamond mounting. It is this unusual path that has inspired her collections, from the South Downs on her doorstep to the wild coast of Southern Australia and the exotic culture of Thailand.
Her precious collections, including wedding and engagement rings, pendants and earrings, are all heavily influenced by her love of jewellery from Antiquity. Twinkling diamond beads, fancy sapphires and rubies, Indian rose-cut and Edwardian old-cut diamonds combine with rich beaten gold and palladium to create timeless pieces, including her signature handmade stacking rings, which can be made with a choice of stone and in any precious metal.
Hand made to a meticulously high quality, Alexis Dove jewellery also has a quirky, slightly vintage sense of style, that is very much her own, but is also very on trend. Alexis Dove’s new Curio range is inspired by the cabinets of curiosities and wonder that were collected by 17th century explorers who were fascinated with natural history both fabled and true. It includes vintage keys, hearts, skulls and shells in combinations of silver and gold vermeil.
In her shop in The Needlemakers, Lewes you will find all of her collections under one roof and housed in vintage taxidermy cabinets and bell jars. You can also commission a unique piece of your own in the workshop area of the shop.
